Metallica’s Back!
Guess what, people? Metallica’s back.
With a vengence.
Unless you live in a hole, you should already know that they’ve been recording a new album for the last two years, claiming it’s going to be like the “old” (real) Metallica… a combo of the “Black” album, …And Justice For All, and Master of Puppets.
Obviously, there were skeptics. Including me. We all know how St. Anger turned out, and the Load/Reload era wasn’t the most Metallica-worthy either.
I got excited when reviews and whispers started coming out that people had gotten to preview 6 songs off Death Magnetic, and that even the “worst” of the batch was pretty good… and very much the real Metallica.
Try and imagine my excitement when they officially release the first single from the upcoming album, titled “The Day That Never Comes”.
It’s going to kick you in the face.
Listen to it for yourself, but I’ll say this: this album will be no letdown. It may be their equivalent of Judas Priest’s Angel of Retribution… a reclaiming of their throne, and a revival of one of the greatest bands of all time.
Make sure you listen to the entire song… the first 3 minutes are reminiscient of a song off Load/Reload, and then *BAM* it hits you in the face with a giant concrete brick for another awesome 5 minutes of the heavy truth:
