Old Content:

A Terrible Recruiter

I don't know why I still get recruiting emails, but I do*.  And today I got an especially bad one.
Hi  Brady,

This  is Aish from Integnology. I am looking for IE6/UI developer for a 2 weeks + assignment for our Client in San Francisco, CA. You might not be looking for an assignment,  but would you be willing to take this assignment along with  your present  job or project.  Please send me  your resume & contact me to discuss this .

IE6/7 UI Developer

-Make existing Firefox-friendly website and Facebook application IE6/7

compatible.

-All Javascript features that work on Firefox to be ported over to both

IE6/7.

-Must be AJAX and CSS savvy

-Must have exposure to Ruby on Rails

-Must have written FBML for Facebook

All of the formatting (spaces and punctuation included) remains intact, and this email is completely unedited.

Here's my appropriately Kyle'd reply.
Do not contact me again, especially given your poor English, poor email skills, impersonal email, and how you got my name wrong.

Maybe you should learn to be "smooth" before you try to make money by doing so.

BURN!

*Footnote (2/6/09 3:15pm PST): as mentioned in my reply to "Bad Show", my profiles on both Monster and Dice are hidden/unsearchable, or are supposed to be, based on my account settings/preferences.  And if recruiting firms are stooping to trolling blogs like mine for resumes...

Well, I think they need to find a better data pool.

Old Content posts are leftovers from a less structured, less civilzed era that are kept for posterity.

  • Bad Show
If you put your nude poster on street people will piss on it. Why don't you wrap your profile under shit pot so that no one knows about it ??? No one will look at it, no one will bother you.

If you think you are the only geek in this world, you probably are just a spoiled kid. Learn to be humble and you will go a long way.

    Kick your ass.
  • p.s. Nice to know that you posted from SUN Microsystems' campus. ;-)
  • Well Mr. Nice Guy,

While your language and word choice makes understanding you difficult, I understand what you're getting at. But here's the rub:

My profiles on Monster and Dice ARE HIDDEN right now (or whatever the equivalent of being unsearchable is), so the only place to find my resume is via here, on my blog.

And if they're trolling my blog to find job candidates, I think their time could be better spent elsewhere.

Which brings me back to my first point. If they didn't find me on a job site, and they probably didn't find me here, I'm curious as to how they got my information...

But that doesn't excuse them from the email they sent me.

Or, to use your phrasing, "just because you put a nude poster out on the street doesn't mean Shakespeare will write his next play on it".

    Thanks for playing though,

    --Kyle
