You might be interested to know that there's two different kind of posts on this blog: "Thought of the Day" and "Normal". The "Thought of the Day" category is a once-a-day random tidbit, usually a funny video or picture, and the "Normal" is just what you'd expect from a blog like this:
Unicorn-Butterfly Soup.

I’m just not an artist. Never have, and never will be. I can do some “digital art”, but it’s pretty limited.
So, I thought for everyone’s amusement, I would post a sketch I did on Monday. It’s related to a project that we (Intuitive Industries) are starting, and I needed to be able to let people know what I was seeing in my head. I can’t say any more now, but just enjoy the sketch.

I’ve been trying to associate the search terms “kyle brady” with me and this domain for awhile now, which is more difficult than your average person searching for themselves… I have to compete with the football player.
I occasionally search my name just to see where I happen to stand in the results for that moment (since Google’s results list can change drastically, depending on which sort algorithm they’re testing on you, it’s never a “for sure” position)… and I just came across myself in the #4 slot on the first page. I was pretty excited (how’s that for geekiness?), and took a screenshot so I have proof if other people can’t reproduce the results:
Hopefully this trend continues, and I owe a “thank you” to the feed subscribers, the actual-site-visitors, and the people that link to me (even though it’s sometimes only images that aren’t even mine).

Over the last 2.5 weeks, I’ve been experimenting with producing an online comic (you’ve probably already noticed). I’ve really enjoyed an outlet for my weird sense of humor, and have gotten mixed responses, as well as some pretty big traffic spikes.
But I’ve kind of put myself into a corner for the moment, where many different things are converging. I can’t really disclose full details at the moment, but it’s safe to say that I’m not going to be back at the webcomic game until at least mid-May, and at the latest, early June.
This has nothing to do with any of the number of violently verbal attacks on my insanity, and in fact those are much more appreciated than the positive feedback… it makes me laugh, knowing that I bothered someone with my “creativity”. Like I’ve said, this has everything to do with the end of my last semester at school (by choice, not by graduation), the looming deadline for a real-world life, Intuitive Industries, OneSwirl, and a small handful of other things.
I’ll keep blogging at random, and may even spit some code out on here tomorrow… but no comics for awhile.

As usual, been pretty busy. Here’s some brief updates:
I’m sure you’ve noticed, but in the last week and a half (or so), I’ve started a new webcomic, ClassicallyAwesome. It’s a little weird, because it’s my sense of humor, but I think it’s funny! I started doing it because I had some ideas for comics, and just thought I’d see where it went. I’ve figured out how to actually plan them, and what the “feel” is going to be like, so they’ll be a little more in the same vein from now on… the computer thing was a little tangential.
I hit almost 1000 unique visitors yesterday. The traffic’s been escalating every day for the last 4 or 5 days, all because of my comedic…”talents”. Tell your friends!
Just because I’m doing a webcomic now doesn’t mean I stopped everything else. Development on OneSwirl is continuing at a pretty intense pace, but for the next release not all of the programming feats will be visible to users. Alot of it is backend re-programming (PHP to C++) since we switched to more…capable…servers. But, there are some cool things we’re doing… stay tuned!
We’re still looking for someone who can do some quick (and cheap) work for us in C/C++. If you’re interested, email me.
Finally, the big item: this is my last semester at school. The reasons why are complicated, but the end result is that I’m calling it quits with college. My immediate future is still TBD, but there’s a few options I can’t talk about at the moment.

You may or may not have noticed (I don’t know who “you” are) that OneSwirl has been down recently. This was thanks to a botched server install, and a failure to fix their own problems, by MediaTemple. But we’re back up and running… for the official letter, see the official message.
I’ll no longer be posting links here, unless I really think they’re worth noticing. Most of the stuff I see comes in through RSS feeds, which are now monitored by OneSwirl, so when I “star” them inside Google Reader, they’ll show up on my public page. Keep an eye on the “Links” and “News” sections.
We (Intuitive Industries LLC / OneSwirl) are looking for someone to do some work in C/C++. If you’re interested, let me know.

I had another article/interview printed in a Maryland newspaper again… this time from the “Towson Times”. This one is alot longer and more in depth, focusing a little more on me than the business. But that’s ok, any press is good. See below for a graphic of it.

Last night I started work on an interesting project of mine, on the subject of “Lifestreaming”. Basically, one location that pulls together everything you may do or be involved in on the Internet, through RSS feeds and some “neat tricks”, creating a unified RSS feed for whoever may be interested.
So, for example, rather than someone following my blog, Twitter, and what I “digg” on Digg… they could just subscribe to this all-in-one feed to keep track of my activities. Or visit the main page of wherever this will be, and see things like “Kyle dugg [whatever]” or “Kyle’s Twittering [something]“.
Once I get this working, to a certain point, I’m going to publish it for people to view, even as I continue to develop it. Before that happens, I need to create a database caching method of the RSS feeds, which will probably happen tonight.
But, and this is the big kicker, I’m going to be releasing the “Services Library” as open source code, probably under GNU and through a joint venture of myself and my company. This library is what pulls in the different RSS feeds, and pulls out the specific details of the feed for each service. For example, Twitter’s “description” and “title” tags are both the same, the actual Twitters themselves… but Digg’s “title” is what I want, and not the “description”.
This little project may turn into something bigger, but we’ll see how it goes.

So, yeah, I’m famous. Not quite as much as Corey’s glasses (try CollegeHumor if you don’t know what I’m talking about), but hopefully one day I can attain that status.
Anyways, I had a small interview with The Examiner (a paper that has a few local editions in places like Baltimore, San Francisco, San Jose, etc.), Baltimore Edition, about the business and mySHOUToutLOUD. Since it was my first interview, and writeup in a paper, I’m pretty excited about it.
Give Us a Read, Precious.
